Furiosa Anya Taylor-Joy

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

« Back to Blog

You may be saying to yourself, "oh great, another big budget, unoriginal prequel that I'm still totally gonna watch" and you'd be right to say that. Then you might ask, "wait, why is a granola bar company saying anything about movies?" And you'd be right to question that one as well.

You see granola bars are my entire life so when someone told me that Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga was coming out, I first thought to myself, "this has nothing to do with granola bars, why are you telling me this?" But then I realized, this has EVERYTHING to do with OUR granola bars.

The movie seeks to develop the backstory of Anya Taylor-Joy's character, Furiosa (originally played by Charlize Theron) in a post-apocalyptic world that has been destroyed by oil, pollution and climate change. According the comic book spin-offs of Mad Max: Fury Road, sometime in the near future black fuel (oil) started to run out, causing riots and wars over control of its sources and then, the apocalypse.

While the dieselpunk post-apocalyptic world as imagined by George Miller and Byron Kennedy may or may not be the likely outcome of oil running out and a planet being ravaged by pollution, it's an interesting and somewhat depressing thought experiment that I won't go down the rabbit hole of trying to outline today.

What I will say is that oil is a finite resource that makes single-use plastic. Just about everything you eat comes wrapped in it. Our lives depend on it, but they shouldn't. That's why we use wrappers made from wood pulp and corn. They're renewable, sustainable, compostable, and biodegradable. So grab a BAR-U-EAT and enjoy watching Furiosa knowing that you're doing your small part in helping us avoid ruining a young Furiosa's life.

P.S. Don't forget to offset your carbon with your order because remember, pollution played a factor in destroying Furiosa's world, too.
