Ashley Carelock FKT Atlas Race

FKT (Fastest Known Time) for Ashley Carelock - The 2022 Atlas Mountain Race

The 2022 Atlas Mountain Race is more than just a bike race….in the words of the race promoters themselves:

The Atlas Mountain Race is a serious undertaking that should not be underestimated. It takes place in an environment that can be as tough as it is beautiful. It requires not only the ability to ride big days back to back, but also knowledge and experience of being self-reliant in an arid mountain environment. Although it is definitely a race, your primary concern should always be your own safety. Riders will experience the natural beauty of Morocco, and the warmth and generosity of its people. It is an experience that will stay with you a lifetime.

For BAR-U-EAT Collective Member Ashley Carelock, this is just another day in the office - blood, sweat and gears…

We’ve not yet had the chance to catch up with Ashley, and recap the race high and low lights, but we did want to deliver the news that she was the first female finisher, and officially has the Women’s FKT (Fastest Known Time).

Here's what we do know...
The race comes in at a whopping 727 miles, along with 76,000 feet of climbing. Ashley completed the race in 6 days, 1 hour and 30 minutes - that’s over 100 miles and 10,000 feet of climbing per day, for 6 days in a row - In Africa. Without aid stations. With very little water. In the heat. On her bike. In Africa.

Stay tuned for details - we'll post them as soon as we catch up with Ashley. For the most up to date info, give her a follow on Instagram. She’s really good at staying current with her posting:
